What IS energy?

Energy is a forced that cannot be created or distroyed.

Energy is typically determined by change

when an object changes, energy is moved from one object to another.

There are two determinations of energy, which depend on the concept of which you are expressing it from. There is. . .

Transformation- the change of energys (one energy to another)

Transfer- What objects the energy is changing through. (Sun to the Grass)

WHY do we have specified types of energies?

WHEN are they taking place?

Although all things are always possesing some sort of energy/energies they change depending on what activities you are taking part in. The first form of energy is Mechanical Energy; which is the combination of potential and kenetic energies. It is the sum of the combination of both. The second energy is the energy of motion; Kinetic Energy thus being the energy associated with the moving of objects and also refered to as the most fundimental form of energy. The size of somethings amout of KE is determined by the objects speed and mass. The third form is GPE (Gravitational Potential Energy) which is the energy of positon. Its size is determined by the object's mass and the height above ground. The higher you are above the ground, the more GPE you gain. The fourth is HEat Energy also known as thermal energy; the random kinetic energy of particles. This energy is very random and also disorganized, it also is the energy that happens so often that it is considered "the graveyard of energy". The next would be Chemical Energy; the energy of bonds, which holds the particles in a substance together. When these bonds are formed or broken, energy is transfered or a transformation takes place. In many cases of this, chemical energy is formed into a different form of energy. Next will be Electromagnetic Energy also refered to as solar or light energy; which is the energy of waves. There are different types depending on what can and cannot be seen by the human eye, such as infrared and ultraviolet. Second to last is Sound Energy; the energy of vibrationg particles, which is transfered by mechanical waves. These are highly organized substances  which vibrate, but do not change there location. In most common cases, sounds energy is classified into three catigories which consist of- infrasonic; the sound below human hearing, sonic; which is the one human ears are sensative to, and lastly ultrasonic; the one above our human hearing level. The last form of energy is Elastic Potential Energy;  energy of deformed materials which comes from the stretching and compressing of elastic materials. When the stretching and compressing takes place, it exerts a force, (elastic force) which then it returns to it's original shape.

This picture would be a good example of a transformation of energy. At first, when going up to the top of the coaster ride, it will have GPE because it's determined by an objects position. Its size is determined by the object's mass and the height above ground. The higher you are above the ground, the more GPE you gain. The second type it will have is be transformed into KE when going down. Since energy cannot be created nor destroyed, it will have to even out between the two types of energies depending on the height of your object which in this case is a roller coaster going up or down.

This is an example of HE, heat energy which is also known as as the graveyard of energy because many forms of energy. Above is a chain describing creating radiation from its rays.
